Job Description: Teacher assistant
Position: Daycare Provider at WCW/Peace Lutheran Preschool
Accountable to: WCW Directors
Purpose: To serve Peace Lutheran Church by providing nurturing and care for children who have not yet entered formal schooling. In addition to attending to children's basic needs, child care workers organize activities and implement curricula that stimulate children's physical, emotional, intellectual, social and spiritual growth. They help children explore individual interest, develop talents and independence, build self-esteem, and learn how to get along with others.
Principal Functions
1) Act as a Christian role model for the children, parents and fellow staff people and provide a Christian environment where God's love is shared with children, personnel and parents.
2) Play an important role in children's development by caring for them when parents are at work or away for other reasons. As substitute parent figures, each staff member will treat each child as a child of their very own.
Position Qualifications
1) Requirements:
a) Must be at least 18 years of age
b) Minimum of a high school education or its equivalent
c) Prior experience with young children
d) CPR and First Aid Training, TB testing, Universal Precautions training as required by the State of Indiana, will be provided
e) All employees will be subject to drug screening and may be subject to random screening
2) Desirable:
a) Previous experience in preschool and/or daycare
b) CDAs and/or other 2-year education degrees
Primary Duties and
Responsibilities:
1) Under the direction and supervision of the Directors, plan and implement the program in accordance with the purpose and philosophy of Wee Creations Ministries.
2) Must be able to lift 30
pounds multiple times per day to assist with diapering and toileting duties.
3) Provide for the supervision and safety of each child under your care, at the center or on a field trip. Any accidents, no matter how minor they seem to the daycare provider, need to be documented: day, time, description, name of provider who witnessed the accident.
4) Set up and maintain an appropriate classroom environment for young children. The schedule for cleaning all the toys in each room should be followed. In the toddler room toys that come into contact with a child's mouth need to be put and sanitized before replacing on shelf.
5) Maintain confidentiality of all information regarding specific children, families and staff members.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
